Nilo Rodis-Jamero’s atmospheric painting of Jabba’s Palace interior established the murky, decadent aesthetic of the crime lord’s court. The painting captures the cavernous throne room with its alcoves, hanging curtains, and shadowy figures — a space that feels ancient, dangerous, and deeply alien. Rodis-Jamero drew on Middle Eastern and North African architectural motifs, filtered through a science fiction lens, to create an environment that felt lived-in and corrupt. This painting guided the set designers in building one of the most memorable locations in Return of the Jedi.
